RockBowl is a fun and challenging quiz tournament designed for young rock engineers and scientists, testing both technical knowledge and general understanding of rock mechanics and rock engineering.

RockBowl 2026 will officially take place on September 16th, 2026, right at the venue of EUROCK 2026. Up to eight teams will qualify to go head-to-head in this fast-paced tournament.

Prizes & Awards

• Winning Team: Each member of the winning team will receive a cash prize of EUR 1000.00 (limited to a maximum of 3 students).
• Best Individual Player: The participant with the best overall performance will receive the “Orange book” and the “Blue book” of the “ISRM Suggested Methods”.

Eligibility & Team Requirements

• Team Size: Teams must consist of at least two, and at most three players.
• Student Status: All players must be enrolled at a university as undergraduate or full-time graduate students. Generally, all members must be from the same university.
• Age Limit: Players cannot be older than 35 years by the date of the event.
• ISRM Membership: All players must be members of the ISRM or associated with an ISRM national group.
• Leadership: Each team must designate a Team Captain to handle registration documents and communication and also appoint one Tutor Professor at the time of registration.

Important Dates to Remember

April 15, 2026: Application period officially opens.
July 10, 2026: Deadline to submit all registration documents.
July 20, 2026: Announcement of the initially selected teams.
August 1, 2026: Deadline to inform the committee of any team cancellations.
August 10, 2026: Announcement of the final list of selected teams.
September 16, 2026: RockBowl Games take place.

How to Register

Registration is completely free of charge. To apply, the Team Captain must complete the online form below and upload the required documents. Only one form should be submitted per team.

You will need to upload:

1. The duly completed application form. (Download the Application Form)
2. Proof of university enrolment for the current semester or year for all players.
3. A face photo of each participant in a 3×4 ratio.
4. Your university or team logo (Note: Logos with political, religious, or ideological themes are strictly prohibited).
5. A Questionnaire Form: A document containing 5 to 10 questions prepared by your team.

Important Final Step: To finalize your registration, your Tutor Professor must send an email from their institutional address to our organizing committee, confirming their name, university, and the names and email addresses of all team members.
